How To Structure Your Days For Success

How To Structure Your Days For Success How To Structure Your Days For Success

Owning a business has a lot of benefits, but sometimes keeping yourself organized and on track to meet your goals can be a bit stressful and confusing. Thankfully, there are many ways to avoid this problem! Here are a few tips on how to structure your days for success as a business owner:

- Create a daily to-do list based on priority from what absolutely has to get done that day to what can be put off until tomorrow, later in the week or month and so on. This way your schedule doesn't feel overwhelming each morning and instead you'll have a comfortable place to start your day and bite-sized chunks of work to move through instead of having to tackle a never-ending list of things to get done

- Have a separate notebook from your usual daily planner to write out ideas as they come up, to take random or scattered notes in and to braindump any business-related content so that all your miscellaneous thoughts are in one place for easy reference and don't mess up the flow of your more structured daily planner or category style notes

- Have an easily accessible and editable online spot - like a running Google document, spreadsheet, ClickUp dashboard or some kind of organizational homepage where your team can write notes, add ideas to your weekly/monthly/daily meeting agenda so important topics don't get missed and check them off when they've been dealt with so you all know where you stand on important topics and can reference that when needed

- Leave 20% of your workday unscheduled. That means, if you work a typical 8-hour day, give yourself ~ 1.5hrs that are completely unscheduled. No meetings, no calls, no structured project time. You'll still be working during this time, of course, but it will give you flexibility day-to-day to prioritize what you need to do THAT DAY. Maybe something important just came up or you need some creative brainstorming time, or you want to network. Giving yourself time every day to just "go with the flow" of your business that day will not only allow you to stay on top of things as they come up by creating space for them but also encourages creativity, brainstorming and learning

-Ditch the multitasking! Though you may think that multitasking is making your workday more efficient, it's likely doing the opposite... Factually speaking, to be able to truly multitask and focus equally and efficiently on two things at once is physically impossible. Not only does multitasking make you less productive throughout your day, but you are also actually missing all of the information that you are not primarily focusing on. This can lead to; typos in emails, copy or social content, having to go back and re-do previous work because of unseen errors, missing out on important information, and causing that fuzzy-headed feeling that occurs when your brain is having to switch between too many things at once in too short a time - ultimately making you feel burnt out mid-way through your day. So,  instead of trying to do multiple things at once, try scheduling out your day so that you have an allotted period for each separate thing that you need to get done

By following some or all of these strategies, you'll be able to customize a daily schedule to help you keep up with your business's needs and make strides toward your professional goals every day!
