How to Successfully Delegate as a Business Owner! How to Successfully Delegate as a Business Owner!

Welcome back to another Redefining Barter Blog post! This week we'll be discussing how to successfully delegate your workload in order to reduce the stress of being a business owner - keep reading to find out how:

If you're a small business owner and operator, check-in with yourself and ask - Do I have enough time to run my business the way that I want to, while also making time for my personal needs? Am I feeling overwhelmed? Do I need help managing the aspects of my business that I'm unsure of? If these questions hit home with you, you likely need to bring some form of delegation into your business plan. It's normal to want to have complete control over every aspect of your business, however, it's not sustainable to do this in the long term as it can lead to you feeling extremely burnt out as well as important things falling through the cracks, as it's physically impossible to manage absolutely everything yourself. By delegating your responsibilities, you can create a healthy work/life balance for yourself while allowing your business to have the best chance at succeeding!

Some easy ways to delegate are to:

  •  Hire out of the office to complete projects/jobs you or your team aren't able to do on your own. This could include things such as; website creation/management, social media marketing/management, SEO, brand or business development, copywriting, advertising, or whatever aspects your business is in need of

  • Consider hiring an assistant to help manage day-to-day tasks and make sure that everything is getting done in a timely and organized manner so that you can solely focus on the most important things that need your attention and expertise each day

  •  Curate a team that's specialized in the different areas that you need assistance in when hiring employees, therefore ensuring that if you regularly need something specific done for your business you already have team members who specialize in doing those things well

  • Conduct regular strategy sessions to make sure that you and your team are on track with your goals individually and collectively. This will also give you and your team a chance to have an in-depth discussion, ask questions, and reassign positions and tasks if needed to ensure everyone's success and catch anything that's been missed

By implementing this help as your business grows, you'll be ensuring that your stress isn't growing alongside it! Delegation is an amazing way to help your team work together towards a cohesive goal while taking lots of tasks off of your own plate so that you can focus on working on the aspects of your business that you love and enjoy.
