Differentiating Your Business In A Meaningful Way Differentiating Your Business In A Meaningful Way

We're sure you've been hearing a lot lately about how to "pivot" your business, but the truth is, pivoting takes a lot of work, foresight, planning, and ultimately the ability and resources that many small businesses don't have access to - any in many cases, it's not entirely necessary.

DIFFERENTIATION - that is, finding what makes your business and how you do it unique from your competitors - is the key to long term success: a success that will take you past the end of COVID-19, past the ups and downs of market trends and continue to propel you into the future.

But HOW can you go about differentiating yourself from the competition? BE AUTHENTICALLY DIFFERENT.

PUT PEOPLE FIRST. Position your product or services in a way that serves people and what they need. Don't "sell": offer to help, offer value, offer advice, and become the resource people turn to. They'll remember who was there for them when they needed it the most.

CREATE, DON'T COPY. Be the industry leader you looked up to when you first started your business. Create the conditions in your business for that success. Take that success and use it to inspire others. Don't waste your energy on trying to copy what other businesses are doing.
